Privacy Policy

BizcardAI helps you scan business cards, extract contact details with AI, and manage saved contacts. This policy explains what data is used and how it is protected.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to provide BizcardAI features:

  • Account information from Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or email and password sign-in through Firebase Authentication, such as user ID, email address, and display name when available.
  • For email and password accounts, your email address and a password you choose. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; BizcardAI does not store your password in the app.
  • Business card data you save, including names, company, job title, phone numbers, email addresses, websites, addresses, notes, groups, favorite status, and card images.
  • Your preference for Google AI (Gemini) processing (allowed or declined), stored on your device in the app.
  • AI usage data, such as request count, daily limit, and last request date.
  • Analytics events used to improve app quality, such as scan success, AI extraction result, save result, permission result, duration, count, and error category.

Camera, Photo Library, Contacts, and On-Device OCR

BizcardAI uses your camera when you choose to scan a business card with the in-app camera. You may also choose an existing business card image from your photo library when you use the library picker.

Text recognition is processed on your device using Apple Vision before any third-party AI processing takes place.

The app may request Contacts access only when you choose features that save or interact with your device contacts. The app may request photo library access when you choose to import a card image or save a card image to your library.

Third-Party AI (Google AI / Gemini) and Your Consent

After you scan a business card, BizcardAI sends the extracted card info to Google AI (Gemini) through Firebase AI to structure contact fields such as name, company, job title, phone numbers, email addresses, websites, and addresses.

Data sent to Google AI (Gemini): information read from your business card, which may include names, company names, job titles, phone numbers, email addresses, website URLs, physical addresses, and any other details printed on the card.

Data not sent in the Google AI request: your business card image, your account information (such as user ID or email address), and your device contacts are not included in the request sent to Google AI for contact structuring.

When data is sent: BizcardAI sends card info to Google AI (Gemini) only after you explicitly agree in the in-app consent screen shown the first time you use the app after sign-in. If you choose not to allow this processing, card scanning is disabled until you enable Allow Google AI Processing in Settings.

Your choices: You can change your decision at any time in Settings by turning Allow Google AI Processing on or off. Turning it off disables card scanning and stops new card info from being sent to Google AI (Gemini). You can still manage contacts you previously saved in the app.

Google processes this data according to its own terms and privacy policies. Firebase AI is provided by Google as part of the Firebase platform used by BizcardAI.

Sharing and Export

You may choose to share contact information through the iOS share sheet, including as a vCard (.vcf) file or plain text. When you use these features, the shared data is handled by the app or service you select (such as Mail, Messages, or other apps you choose). BizcardAI does not control how those third-party apps process information after you share it.

Email and Password Sign-In

If you create an account with email and password, BizcardAI uses Firebase Authentication to register and sign you in. We may send service emails related to your account, such as email address verification and password reset messages, using Firebase email templates.

Email and password accounts may be required to verify the email address before full access to the app. Verification and password reset links are sent to the email address you provide.

We do not have access to your password in readable form. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.

Storage and Service Providers

BizcardAI uses Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Firebase Storage, Firebase AI, Firebase Analytics, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, and Google AI (Gemini) for contact structuring. We may also use timeapi.io to help synchronize daily AI usage limits.

These providers process data according to their own terms and privacy policies. Card info sent for AI structuring is transmitted to Google AI (Gemini) through Firebase AI only when you have allowed Google AI processing in the app.

Saved contacts and card images are stored in Firebase services associated with your account. Analytics events do not include business card info, names, phone numbers, email addresses, addresses, notes, images, user IDs, or contact IDs.

How We Use Data

  • To sign you in with Google, Apple, or email and password, verify email addresses where required, and keep your account secure.
  • To scan business cards on your device, extract card info with on-device OCR, and—when you have agreed—send that card info to Google AI (Gemini) through Firebase AI to structure contact fields.
  • To save, edit, sync, and delete contacts and card images you choose to store in your account.
  • To enforce AI request limits and improve reliability.
  • To understand feature usage and improve app quality.

Data Retention

Your data is kept until you delete your account or delete individual contacts. When you remove a contact or delete your account, the associated information is removed from BizcardAI’s active storage, subject to technical limitations, backup retention, and third-party service policies described elsewhere in this policy.

Deletion and Your Choices

You can control Google AI processing in Settings with Allow Google AI Processing. When this is off, BizcardAI does not send new card info to Google AI (Gemini) and card scanning is disabled.

You can delete individual contacts in the app. You can also delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes saved contact data, personal card data, and stored business card images associated with your account, then deletes the authentication account where supported.

Account deletion may not complete if your sign-in session is too old. In that case, you may need to sign in again before deleting your account.

Children’s Privacy

BizcardAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

BizcardAI does not sell your personal data, does not use your information for third-party advertising, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising purposes. We use in-app analytics only to improve the experience and reliability of the app, and we do not use business card content to build advertising profiles.
